Collaboration with Beczak Beczak Architekci
For Beczak Beczak Architekci, I photographed three single-family houses located near Warsaw: DOM House, BBB House, and SMU House. Although each project has its own character, all three sessions followed a similar photographic approach and scope. From the outset, the goal was to create coherent visual material that clearly communicates the architects’ ideas while showing how the buildings relate to greenery, landscape, and light. Each shoot included exterior photography during the day and at dusk, interior photography, aerial images captured with a drone, as well as general views and detailed shots. An important part of the process was presenting the houses not as isolated objects, but as elements embedded in a suburban, often forested context, where architecture and nature coexist.
Photography as an interpretation of architectural intent
Working closely with the architects was essential to properly interpret each design. In the case of BBB House, the focus was on capturing the strong yet discreet presence of the building within the pine forest of Konstancin, its vertically articulated volume, and the semi-atrial layout that provides privacy while opening selected views toward the landscape. The photographs emphasize the relationship between the façade rhythm and the surrounding trees, as well as the way natural light penetrates deep into the interiors. For SMU House, the photographic narrative highlights the axial organization of the plan, minimalist atria shaped by existing greenery, and the dialogue between interior spaces and forest views. Interior and exterior images were composed to show the balance between openness and intimacy, as well as the role of materials that visually merge the building with its natural setting. Across all three projects, photography served not only as documentation but also as a visual interpretation of architecture, focusing on light, proportions, materiality, and the connection between buildings and their environment.
The result of this collaboration is a set of consistent architectural photography sessions that present these houses as carefully designed, context-driven projects while clearly conveying the design philosophy and sensitivity of Beczak Beczak Architekci.
