In July 2022, the London-based architectural firm Flanagan Lawrence commissioned me to conduct a photo session of the Summer Theater in Szczecin. The building was realized based on a winning competition entry from 2015. I began photographing the architecture at sunrise. I wanted to capture the illuminated eastern facade of the building and the rays of sunlight entering the amphitheater audience area under the canopy. It was also important for me to best convey the structure of the canopy. It is most visible during sunrise or sunset in drone photos. The theater, both now and before its renovation, is an important compositional element of Kasprowicz Park. I wanted to reflect this in my story. I decided that, in addition to close-up general shots, it would be important to show the building from a distance—how it interacts with its natural surroundings. In the evening, a sudden storm arrived, but it didn’t discourage me from taking night photos of the building. It wasn’t easy, but thanks to these conditions, I managed to achieve an interesting effect.
The photos were published, among others, on the cover and in the Architektura Murator magazine, as well as in The Plan magazine.
