Collaboration with Nizio Design International – museum and exhibition interior photography
For several years, I have been collaborating with the architectural studio Nizio Design International, which specializes in museum architecture, exhibition design, and narrative spaces. One of the first projects I photographed was the Polish Vodka Museum in Warsaw, located within the revitalized 19th-century former vodka factory complex Koneser. The assignment focused on interior photography of the permanent exhibition, where architecture, scenography, and multimedia elements work together to tell a coherent story. While working on this project, my aim was to capture the atmosphere of a space designed to engage multiple senses. I paid particular attention to the rhythm of the interiors, the sequence of exhibition rooms, and the relationship between the preserved historical fabric and contemporary exhibition solutions. In this case, interior photography served as a tool to support the narrative of the exhibition rather than dominate it.
Gallery of Ancient Art and the Order of the White Eagle Hall
Another significant project was the Gallery of Ancient Art at the National Museum in Warsaw, reopened after many years of preparation and design work. The concept developed by Nizio Design International is based on the symbolism of light and darkness and on the conscious use of scale, materials, and colour. While photographing the gallery interiors, I focused on the spatial rhythm of the exhibition, monumental walls, ramps, and carefully designed scenographic details. An important goal was to convey the atmosphere of contemplation and concentration that accompanies encounters with ancient art.
As part of this collaboration, I also photographed the Order of the White Eagle Hall located in the Presidential Palace in Warsaw. This permanent exhibition dedicated to Poland’s oldest and most important state decoration was designed in a minimalist and elegant manner that harmonizes with the historic interiors of the palace. During the photo session, I adopted a restrained photographic approach, concentrating on proportions, subtle lighting, and the relationship between the contemporary exhibition design and the historic architecture. The images were intended to reflect the symbolic significance of the space and the dignity of the exhibited insignia.
Museums beyond Warsaw – Lublin and Otrębusy
In the following years, the collaboration with Nizio Design International expanded to include projects outside Warsaw. I photographed museum interiors at the Royal Castle in Lublin and the Kraków Gate, where new exhibition arrangements were created with great respect for the historic structure and strict conservation requirements. In these projects, it was particularly important to show the dialogue between historical architecture and contemporary exhibition narratives. I also completed an interior photography session at the Polish Folklore Centre “Karolin” in Otrębusy, where the exhibition presents Polish folk culture through sound, image, movement, and interactive elements. In such spaces, interior photography requires special attention to light, colour, and the relationship between scenography and the movement of visitors.
My collaboration with Nizio Design International consists of a series of demanding yet highly inspiring projects, in which photography becomes a tool for telling stories embedded in space. Each session is a balance between architecture, scenography, and narrative, where the image must convey both the form and the meaning of the place.
