A Home for the Homeless in Warsaw
The architectural studio XYstudio invited me to photograph one of their most meaningful social projects – a home for people experiencing homelessness, located in the Włochy district of Warsaw. It is a simple yet expressive and highly functional building, designed with dignity and everyday needs in mind.
The photographic session included exterior and interior architecture, as well as an attempt to show how the building functions in daily use. The distinctive, rust-toned volume was deliberately embedded in a difficult and visually chaotic surroundings. Windows are arranged irregularly, while from the garden side the mass appears as if it has been carved out of a solid wall.
Architecture, Interiors, and Everyday Life
At the heart of the building lies a wooden chapel, symbolically referring to the idea of home and community. When photographing the interiors, I focused on preserving their scale, restraint, and atmosphere of calm, without unnecessary staging or intervention. Throughout the process, I approached this project with particular sensitivity, aiming to present the architecture not as an abstract object, but as a real, lived-in place — one that offers safety, stability, and a sense of belonging.
