Collaboration with PLH Arkitekter – DSV headquarters in Warsaw
The architectural studio PLH Arkitekter was founded in Denmark in 1977 by architect Palle Leif Hansen and has since delivered numerous office, commercial, and residential projects. Our collaboration began in 2020, when I was commissioned to produce an architectural photography series of one of their latest projects, the Warsaw headquarters of DSV. My task was to deliver a complete photographic documentation of the office building, including both exterior architectural photography and interior images. From the very first site visit, it was clear that the project is defined by a strong yet restrained architectural expression, rooted in Scandinavian design principles and closely tied to the company’s identity. The Warsaw building continues the ideas previously developed for DSV’s Danish headquarters and translates them into a new urban context.
Light, façade, and the rhythm of everyday work
The building is organised around a central atrium, allowing daylight to penetrate deep into the interior and creating an open, collaborative working environment. While photographing the project, I focused on capturing this spatial logic and the relationship between the interior spaces and the façade. The characteristic metal façade, with its horizontal lines and rounded corners, changes its appearance depending on weather and light conditions. For this reason, I decided to photograph the building both on cloudy and sunny days. The session was complemented by evening photography, which revealed a different atmosphere and highlighted the building’s presence within the cityscape. As a result, the final photographic set presents the architecture in multiple moods and at different times of day. The outcome is a coherent and varied visual narrative of a building that combines the functionality of a contemporary office with a clear and recognisable Scandinavian architectural identity.
